Charlie has his first cell phone out before they became an every day item. The phone was as large as a house phone with a line running to a battery pack in a holster.

  • Leroy CrawfordLeroy Crawford and Bars Diamond Rebel set up a double for Thurman Mullins and Freckles. Bars Diamond Rebel was the first AQHA stallion at Twin Pines Ranch. Charlie had first seen Bars Diamond Rebel being used on a cattle drive in Southern California by Casey Tibbs. Bars Diamond calf roped, headed or heeled, cut and reined.

  • Thurman Mullins on MajorMajor was a non-registered Quarter Horse, who along with Ranch employee Leroy Crawford soon had everyone at the ranch roping. Major was a finished roping horse when we purchased him in 1980 and could forgive mistakes while someone was learning and could also win at the big Ropings of the day. This photo was made at "Charlie Daniels Day Parade" in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee" in the early '80's.
